Choosing memory is hard!

Well, I have been searching for the "perfect" ram to compliment my 2.4c and DFi LanParty Pro875b for quite a while now. I've found some, changed my mind, picked somthing else, but still I keep looking.

Then I found Anandtechs' OCZ PC3700 Gold Rev. 2 review. I am now more or less decided on that (unless some jerkface on these forums can point me at something better, lol)

My question here is should I run the memory at ~520MHz for 3.1GHz (if I can get it that high) and forgo the tigher timings and run at 1:1? Or should I run at 5:4 at so I can keep the memory at 2-2-3-6 timings at ~433MHz for 3.2GHz?

Your feed back is eagerly awaited, because if I should go 1:1, I'll get 2x512MB modules for the better OC, but for 5:4 I'll get 4x256MB modules for better performance. (Searching for the Memory Holy Grail: Part 1). I'm personally leaning towards the 5:4 idea, since the Holy Grail article stated the 4 modules performance was superior to the 2 module's additinal OC, and because, if I did the calculations right, it seems 5:4 will yeild faster memory and a faster CPU as well. Perhaps I answered my own question?

5:4 tight timings

do not get 4x256, it can hinder your OC and lose performance dispite what that article says.
if you want 4 banks, get 2x512mb.

i agree it is hard because most memory out there don't perform as good as most of us would like and it is overpriced imo

ddr-2 is gonna be mad expensive at first also, but it's release could drop ddr-1 prices to reasonable levels
buying system memory shouldn't cost 200 to 500 bucks

I just ordered a 3.0C, IC7-G and OCZ PC4200 from Newegg (Prescotts look like too much trouble at the moment). I'm hoping the OCZ is good enough to run at CAS2.5 at 1:1, but we'll see. I'd be happy to share my results when I get it (Monday). I liked that the 4200 was only (only, ha) $278.
