I am leaning toward the 5500, but with news of 3DFx selling out, I don't know what's going to happen with driver support. Should I go with the GTS instead?

5500 at UCDWeb for 185.
VisionTek GeForce 2 GTS 32 meg at UCDWeb for 168.

and I suppose the 32 meg DDR Radeon is an option. It's 169.

So, price isn't really a consideration since they're all within a few dollars of each other. What do you guys think? I currently have a GeForce 2 MX.

I don't what's going to happen with driver support.

Neither do I, so I would wait a while before deciding.

3dfx have hinted that they will continue to support their existing customers for the next few months, and nVidia said that 3dfx still own their current products (ie V3/V4/V5).

Thanks for the reply BFG. It'd be a shame if 3DFX isn't able to flesh out their HSR drivers. I suppose I could wait a few weeks to see what's going to happen, but I want to upgrade now. :)

Radeon 32 MB DDR is available at Buy.com for $162.95 -$30 coupon (if you qualify) + free S&H = $132.95. Or get it from Best Buy for $200 - $50 rebate = $150. Either beats your $169 price.

I would go with the Nvidia GeForce or ATI Radeon as they are both companies that are alive and kicking. The 5500 is a good card, but with the demise of 3dfx, driver support will be lacking.

Personally, I have a Radeon 32MB DDR.

Yes it would. The early results were very promising. :(

Well, give it at least a week.

Well I hope they release a few more driver updates before they finish for good.

3dfx has no employees

can't update drivers without employees to do the work

3dfx is dead. Your future 3dfx driver support will be from present 3dfx owners
