Alright guys, I need some Anandtech Forum help here. I'm looking for the best PORTABLE AMD motherboard out there. It's going to be used as both a home computer (internet, spreadsheets, word processing, burning, etc.) and as a gaming rig (games, games, and maybe some games). I want to drop a GeForce4 in there, along with some 512MB RAM and a nice 2000+ or higher processor, but the most important factor, is that I want to put it in a plastic toolbox or something of the sort (you know, the kind you can find at Target, WalMart, etc.). I really need the portablility.
I have been considering for some time now the PCCHIPS (or ECS depending on who you ask) 830LR. This has integrated video, which I would obviously disable, but the onboard Ethernet and AC97 audio is very tempting. Also included is a bundled AMR modem, which is of litttle or no use depending on if I need the PCI slot. The AC97 audio is fine, because I will listen to most of the audio through headphones - thus, no need for an Audigy Platinum.
Another one I've come about is the ASUS A7B266-M, which has the integrated LAN controller and optional AC97 audio. No video, no modem - fine with me.
I haven't checked out prices, or even if either of these boards will fit into what I want them to, but I was turning to the Anandtech Forums for help, advice, and anything else that might follow. Any suggestions - motherboards or otherwise are greatly appreciated. Thanks
