Well, I had to say good bye tonight to my Radeon 9800 Pro, it died a terrible death from a lightning storm that took both it and my motherboard out. So now I am in need of a replacement and do not know which card to choose for my gaming needs. I am trying to hold out until the spring to upgrade my system completely, so here is what I have right now:

AMD Athlon XP 2800+ (Barton)
1GB PC2700 DDR RAM
ECS N2400U (Replacing my recently departed NF7-S)
Western Digital 120GB Special Edition HD
Optorite 12X DVD+/-RW
Antec SLK-3700AMB w/350W PSU

I was looking at maybe a Vanilla 6800, but then I saw the ATi Radeon X800 Pro deal at Dell for $350 after tax. Which way to go? I know my CPU and Memory will be holding me back a bit, so at what point will I not be able to take advantage of these cards? I will be playing Doom, HL2, Far Cry, UT2004, WoW, etc.

Thanks for the help!

hmm $350 x800pro... 9800pro would be $200. but x800pro is twice as fast. it's up to you, but i'd go with the x800pro then you'll be set for a few years.

Yes get the X800 as they are less power hungry and quieter. How much is ur power supply?

350W, but it has done quite well, giving me the best rails I have ever had on any PSU.
