Choosing a LCD - TV or just an LCD monitor

i'm setting up a PVR system and i'm getting one of those hauppage winTV 150's cards to record tv shows and stuff.

The thing is, my tv in my room is only like 23" or something. so i figured. hey, maybe its time to buy a new tv, or just get rid of my TV, since the hauppage has a remote control, and it can work just like a TV.

Now heres my question. Should i buy a large LCD monitor, or an LCD monitor with TV/HDTV ready? And if so, which should i buy? i was looking on newegg and found a 30" for like 1200 bucks or something. and it was an LCD-TV monitor with speakers built in.

I need to be able to hook up A.) video games, B.) dvd player, c.) computer, d.) TV.

i was just curious if i could do this all without the special LCD-TV monitor, or whether i might as well get one. i'm not sure if an LCD-TV monitor is more expensive, or what, but *shrugs*.

Any help appriciated. Any links to good items for good prices would be swell too. :)

THANKS!

if youre willing to spend $1200 on a video output device, get a projector
the one im looking at
just under $1200, up to 300" screen, 800x600 native, expandable to 1600x1200 (ive read theres little to no distortion in this expansion for this projector)
note: officeDepot lists the max resolution as 800x600, but NECs site says otherwise

with an A/V switch, you can switch between multiple video devices (ie computer, video games, dvd player, etc) at the press of a button and can usually be had for under $20

another note: if you decide to get a projector, i would advise keeping your current TV for regular TV watching as new projector lamps are very expensive ($300-500); just use a projector for movies and games

well, the problem with a projector is that you dont get the BEST view/clearness compared to an LCD. You know? Not to mention, when the lamps start to burn out, you've got to turn the lights off to watch it. =/

damn. any other suggestions? Would maybe a card with a TV out be a better choice? Get a TV out and hook it up to a TV instead of a monitor?

=P
