choosing a case and power supply

Nithin

Senior member
the mboard is atx. i guess i need an atx case and atx power supply. is there anything i need to keep
in mind before buying?

on pricewatch it lists different atx powersupplies by wattage. how do i know what to buy?

Thanks,
Nithin.

Buy a good brand name power supply. ANtecs are some of the best at reasonable prices. PC power and cooling are good as well as fortron.

Don't buy generic...

If you have a set budget ppl here will be more then happy to give you some recommendations.

If its not a very power hungry rig, then 50 bucks should easily buy you a nice 300-350 watt antec. There may be some good PSU's for less than that, but I can't think of any off the top of my head.

Power Supply Calculator <-- Use this to determine about how much power you need. $30 for a case and power supply is not enough maybe just for a power supply depending on your system. It would be helpful if you post your system specs.

BTW i think the power supply calculator link should be pinned with all the repeat topics on how much power do I need.
