CHOOSE an internal video solution: i815 or ProSavage?

I can either get a really fast duron/tbird combo with a board using onboard Savage4 Chaintech AIV5 or TNT2 M64 (minus the AGP slot... I don't like the idea.)

Oooorrrr.... An Intel i815 mobo with an AGP slot.

Surely the ProSavage isn't that bad for 2D speed and quality? Enough to tide me over until I can afford a nice video card in there. The AMD solution would be much, much cheaper and I could spend more on a fancy CPU. ;)

Unless it truly sucks, even if it IS AMD certified...

What do you say?

(And yes, I'd like an nForce too but I need the board on MONDAY - no nForces out by that time.) ;)

Afraid to touch this one? Not everyone needs a Geforce3 folks... imbedded video wouldn't be around if there wasn't a legitimate audience for it. ;)

Any integrated video solution should work for 2D stuff - it doesn't take much. It sounds like what you really want is the Duron/tbird, so go for it!

Any other thoughts here? SiS has an internal video solution, but I doubt the 730 chipset is any good.... [shrug]

I can tell you from experience that SIS' 2d sucks ass! it got blurry and extremely hard to read at 1024x768, as for the prosavage, they have good 2d and good dvd stuff as far as i remember, its the 3d that realy sucked with them.

Go for the Chaintech! :)
