Choking Video Card

I have two 7900gts in sli, each with a vf-900 slapped on. The lower one, which is right next to my sound card is being starved of cool air. How can I remedy this? I am in the market for a new case and I noticed that the Antec P180 has an internal PCI 80mm fan option. Would getting this case balance out my card temps ( the lower one is consitently 10C degrees higher)? If i don't opt for a case to solve my air problem, are there other options?

You could use an Arctic Cooling NV Silencer (if they make it for 7900GTs) or create some kind of air guide to blow intake air over it.

This is how I would do it... it's old school but it works. 😉

Get one of these Nidec Gamma 28 "squirrel cage" fan and aim it wherever you have hot-spots. They put out a surprising amount of air and are very directional.

I use double sided 3M thick tape to position and aim them. You have to mod the wires to work on a regular molex plug but these are 12 volt fans with two wires so it's pretty simple.

They used to sell these at Radio Shack... I don't know if they still do but I also saw some place on Froogle that still sells these pretty cheap. I just know they would be perfect for getting some air to that hot SLI setup.

I just got my 250mm fans and looking for a case to install as a side intake.

I usually use a Yate Loon 120mm as a side intake, but some of my Intel clients need this fan more than me.

I use pci slot fans to cool my gpu too. They're are another inexpensive way to vent out warm air.
