I don't think Tejada is a better player. He was inconsistent last year and not as good as he was in '02. Chavez didn't have a breakout year, mostly due to his problems against left-handed pitching, but combined with his GG defense I think he was more valuable at the hot corner than Tejada was at short. Tejada brings emotion, for sure, but Chavez is younger and overall the guy I'd rather have on my team.
Some people are writing off the A's this year but assuming Mulder is healthy the pitching staff should still be one of the best in baseball. Hopefully some of the new acquisitions can add some pop to the lineup. The offense was horrendous last year.
