This is news to me. I thought all the male chicks were immediately ground up into cat food. I would think an adult rooster would make an okay stew.
I assumed they were females. I used to catch chickens in a chicken house for spare cash when I was a teen, and I think those were all females.
i swear some people have no respect for life, doesnt surprise me at all OP is from texas
The chicken meat you buy at the grocery store is from a cross breed that is very fast growing. The chickens have to be butchered before they are 3 or 4 months old or they will die from a heart attack, become lame, or heat stroke.
Their bodies grow so fast the legs can not keep up with their weight.
The males and females are butchered before they start to sexually mature.

The rooster my wife and I have is a buff orpington. Is is a classic slow growing heritage breed.
Chris P. Bacon? This is such an irrational post. Get over yourself.
We raised a pig for 6 months. Cutest thing ever. It's now sitting in my neighbors freezer in several different packages of chops, bacon and other assorted parts. Guess what. We're about to do it all over again with a new pig.
Interesting!

Their only glimpse of fresh air and sunlight is when the are shipped via 18 wheeler truck from the laying warehouse to the meat processing warehouse. It is a very sad life.
Threads like these are not cool.
If you want to kill the animal do it without getting an audience.
I'd have left it with the main chickens if I wasn't going to make it a pet.
Reality is harsh sometimes I guess.Yeah you don't have to tell me. Spend eight or ten hours stooped over running around in ammonia-reeking muck and darkness grabbing them by the legs and it becomes very clear that it's better to be higher on the food chain.
Here's how it went: we started at 6 AM. You went into the chicken house, grabbed them by the legs, three in one hand and four in the other. I don't know why those numbers but that's what the farmers said to do. You brought your haul out and handed them up one bunch at a time to a guy standing on a trailer bed. He stuffed them into a crate and stacked it with others on the bed. That went on for up to ten hours, and you got $15 at the end.
your that dude who knows nothing about the middle east!dont kill it man
if its getting better, let it get better
not sure why you would even ask that question jerk OP

No, God says not to kill living things, who are you to choose life or death for this chicken.
Vegetables are also living things. I guess we have to eat dirt.

If you don't like it don't say anything at all and leave instead of boosting your post count it appears, as you're not saying anything other than being an asshole again and accusing him of looking for an audience.
Like I've said many time, you never say anything unless there is something negative in there to slam someone.
