Well it is time to do the upgrade, and SSF is definitly the winner. I just have to choose which one is better. The Battle begins... Biostar IDEQ 200NB or Shuttle SN41G2 V2B...
I guess there are pros and cons to each, so let me hear them, personally it makes no difference and the price difference is minimal. I plan to through in these components...

AMD Athlon XP Mobile 35w 2400+ (promising overclocking with either system?)
512 or 1gig, not to sure how much, but most likely OCZ/Geil/HyperX... all CAS 2 pc3200
NEC 2500A DVD Burner
120 gig Hard Drive, brand doesn't mater, Sata for Biostar, Pata for Shuttle... Makes no difference...
ATI 9800 Pro
Mitsumi Floppy/Card Reader

So what do you think? Should i be worried about power consumption with either system...specially with overclocking my chip... I plan on seeing what i can get out of 1.65 Volts, which is what a standard Barton would need anyways...

Any suggestions or explainations would be nice... This will be my first SSF so I new to all this...

Thanks...

i have the sn41g2v2 and i love it. i am running a mobile 2400 chip at 11.5x205 at 1.65 volts. damn stable and the power supply in the shuttle is great. running a 9800pro flashed to a 9800xt fine

all prime stable and memtest stable

I'd check out Sudhian, I had one of these 7in1 floppy/card readers with a SN45G and could never get the card reader to work, I'm not sure if you'll run into the same problem with the 42.

Other than that minor SNAFU, I was extremely happy with my Shuttle. I'd have to vote for Shuttle over Biostar.

actually if you don't plan on using the IGP on the SN41G2V2, you should really check out the SN45GV2. It has everything you want and people claim to get pretty good OCs on it. It comes with the new 250watt PSU.

My cpu temps are 42 idle-48 load. The hard drive and case stay a lil under 40 at all times as well.

Yeah that is great i don't want the IGP...The only reason why i shyed away from the SN45G (V1) was the power supply, and lack of a black case...I will look into this one...Thanks Albis

alright so i am thinking of doing the sn45g v2 when it is released hear in the US... How difficult is it to put on the heatpipe, i am afraid of tightening it to much...

I recently built a system based on the Shuttle SN41G2BV2 and I love it. I tried a Radeon 9800 Pro in it but I didn't like how much power it used, heat it put out, and noise it made. Though it did work 100% stable I decided to go with a much cooler/quieter running 9600 Pro. My current idle temps are 40 Case/48 CPU. They go up a bit when gaming. Overall I love this system and think it's extremely well designed. Here are the specs:

Shuttle SN41G2BV2
AMD Athlon XP 3000+
1GB (2X512MB) Kingston ValueRAM PC3200
Sapphire ATI Radeon 9600 Pro 256MB
Samsung 160GB 7200RPM
NEC 4X DVD+RW

MWink,

Could you throw out the total spent on assembling this computer? I am also looking into building one.

thanks :)

BUMP...starting this thread up...

Also looking to build a SFF pc. Anybody have advice? Sounds like the SN41G2BV2 is a winner....anybody have lower temperatures than 42? What are your specs? This is a vague, redundant question to ask, but for a shuttle having a video card, amd chip ~ 1.6 ghz, 1 gb ram, dvd-rw....how many watts is it going to require or use up for this shuttle? I have a pc with 300 watts and sometimes i think that isn't enough. I guess it's just my worried conscience.

Thanks for any help.

the shuttle 250 watt power supply is plenty powerful for today's products. if you look around forums.sudhian.com for more info, you can see ppl with x800pros with their p4es running perfectly fine.

if you are worried about overtightening your heatsink screws, do what i did. i started at one corner and screwed it in about 70% and went to the next corner and did it 70%. i kept going around in a circle and doing it slowly so it didn't smudge my arctic silver much.

the heat from my 9800xt (flashed from a 9800pro) is insane. before i had the 9800xt, my cpu temps never went above 43 degrees. the summer heat also doesn't help :(

i am planning on modding my case so i can get some of that hot video card air out of my case. hehe hopefully squeeze the vga silencer into a shuttle

It was somewhere around $900 but that's just a rough estimate because I already had the DVD burner and I also bought a few other things (like a carrying case).
