Choice of card

I've been looking at some video cards, and I need some help deciding. I've been looking at Nvidia's 6800GT and ATI's X800 Pro, I'm leaning towards the 6800GT, but I'm bored and curious to what others think. Any input?

Both cards will serve well, but the 6800GT does have a the advantage of SM3, meaningless as it is right now.

Look at an X800 XL as well, its cheaper than both and performs very well.

I forgot to add that I will be using AGP and no PCI-Express.

If that $299 6800GT deal is still on newegg i'd jump on that.


If you play a lot of HL2/CS:Source the x800 is for you.

Drop the X800pro, the X800XL outperforms it and seems cheaper for some reason.

Choice s/b between 6800GT & X800XL. Both are great cards.

Add the cost of a PCI-E mobo, that's an extra $150.

By the way, I think you should go with a 6800GT AGP unless the x800xl AGP is significantly cheeper, and forget the x800pro because it performs worse than both the GT and xl.
