The nice byproduct when it reacts with most stuff are the clouds of heated hydrochloric acid.

Hydrofluoric acid and chlorine gas. Which is actually worse. you know it's bad when chlorine gas is the least of your worries.

They ClF3 it to pre-fluorinate piping in uranium enrichment plants so that the UF6 gas doesn't corrode the steel. Apparantly they get flames every time they open a valve as the ClF3 reacts with the air and residual moisture in the pipes.

Clouds of hydrochloric acid happen when you cut raw onions. And you know what they say about HCL clouds? HCL clouds make baby jebus cry.
