This question is about fixing an ipod, but I figured anyone with some chkdsk knowledge could help more than the apple support forums.
I'm trying to run it on an ipod classic as /r, and every time around 64% it disconnects, stops chkdsk (says volume is no longer connected; Abort/Try Again/Continue options appear) and then a window pops up saying "We recommend you scan and fix this drive before continuing". Hitting Try Again does not continue chkdsk. Rerunning the scan points out the same 4 errors each time, but stops at the same spot
Is there any reason behind this unmounting during the scan or is it just a trashed drive? I'm just trying to save music off of it for a friend, and most other programs I tried transfer at most 40% of it. Even an ipod-specific repair program (CopyTrans Doctor) got past the first step, then suddenly around the halfway mark of step 2 it disconnected and fails/stops the test.
