Intel boards only use the Intel chipset, correct?
And other brands such as ASUS and ABIT use various chipsets like ALi and VIA?

Intel branded boards only use Intel chipsets, but other companies can also be licensed to use Intel chipsets along with AMD, VIA, SiS, Ali, and soon NVIDIA.

Well, there are cheap P4's around. A P4 1.4GHz is around the price of the 1.4GHz Athlon, still no where near the price of Duron's but still it is a P4. Now it won't perform close to a 1.4GHz Athlon but, it is a P4 system. Yes, P4X266 is going to be great for the OEM's. Boards will come down to the 100-125 range (No more 6-layer designs, and P4X266 is cheaper than 845 and 850), rather than the $150-175 that they're at now, plus the 50-65% saved on having DDR instead of RDRAM, plus it has integrated video I think VIA Hardware reported also. Now weather this config will perform close to 850+RDRAM is still in the air, we will have to wait and see, but as far as OEM's and the P4 Department at Intel are concerned, this is the best thing for P4, but now the chipset department is in trouble, if Intel lets P4X266 launch without a slowdown.
