Chipset Fan not running

Got an ABIT NF7 MB and opened the case and the chipset fan was not running. 2 things, does it always run and does it even need to be functional if it's my file server and the occasional web browsing?

Also, are they pretty generic? I have access to potential parts to fix it if need be.

I put a passive Zalman on mine... or just get another fan close to it... should be runnin all the time I believe....those little fans are pretty crappy... but yours seems to have lasted a while... but if its not locking up..should be fine
 
id prolly replace it so as not to mess anything of from getting too hot but... up to you... if its not hot to the touch really while you loaded on it dont worry about it
