Chipset Fan Help Install

I'm not really sure how to replace the chipset fan. I have an asus a8n-e mobo. I called up for a replacement fan for the chainsaw they sent me. Do I need to remove the motherboard to get the new one in? It appears as though there are clips that can only go one way. Thanks, I'll need some help on this one.

are you replacing the fan or the whole heatsink?

if it's just the fan and the fan screws mate, just unscrew the old fan and replace it with the new fan, if it's the heatsink...take the mobo out of the tray, use needle nose plyers to push the a-pins through the mobo and follow the directions that came with your new heatsink.

I figured it out. I really hated those a-pins. I couldn't get them to get through the whole too easily. It's a fan/heatsink. It was just a replacement for the old crappy one that ASUS thought was good....

The left one is the new one.

It's in the mobo offset now. Sort of cock-eyed. It's in secure and it works. Ahhh the silence of the Sonata....
