the chipset fan on my GA-8IEXP has been making a low steady grinding noise lately that i cant seem to fix. It has happened before and usually just poking it with a screwdriver or something gets it to stop, but now its been going on for a day so i can't leave my computer running long because the noise is too annoying. Doesn anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this and is it necessary to run the chipset fan or can i disable it for the meantime?

damn thats qutie a big heatsink judging from pics
you should be fine without a fan

but if you want to make sure, take off the fan and see if there is a buildup of dust under neath it (it can sometiems bog it down)

other than that unplug the fan and touch it once in a while just to make sure its not getting too hot to bear

There should be a little hole on one of the sides of the fan. Just drop a little oil in there
