Chipset/fan and some problems in Windows

Just looked in my case (to see if I could find out what kind of RAM I have, because I forgot), and that little tiny fan sort of out in the middle of nowhere isn't spinning. I THINK it's the chipset fan, but I could be wrong. Should I probably do something about that?

PS. It's 2x512 mb of OCZ something or other, in case you were wondering. If someone could tell me how to fill in the "something or other" I would appreciate it.

Edit: Nvm, I found out what the RAM is (PC3200 Enhanced Latency 2-3-2-6), so if I were to get more, should I just get two more 512mb sticks of the same stuff? Also, I am still wondering if it's a problem that that fan isn't moving. Anyone?

Anyone? Mostly want to know about that fan, since I have no idea how long it has been like that.

You need to call the Asus RMA dept (510-739-3777- option 3) and get the replacement chipset fan or you can get the Zalman NBJ47. The original chipset fan is defective from factory and Asus will send you a replacement fan when you call them.......Judging by the size of the heatsink on the new Asus Fan, I think it's worst then the original fan!!! Hey but that's just me!! Personally, I used the Zalman NBJ47 passive cooler and Zalman FB123 bracket with two 80mm fans. The fans blow directly on the Zalman keeping it nice and cool, to me this is a better option then the replacement fan. A little word of advice, if you have an extra fan laying around the house use it temporarily until you get the replacement or dont' use the computer at all!! Hopefully you didn't damage the Nforce 4 chipset?? How long have you been running it like that?? Later

How long have I been running it like that? No idea...I've had it since Christmas, and it could have been still since then, as I don't usually look inside my case. How would I know if the chipset is damaged? I have 7 case fans, so maybe that's been doing the trick so far.

Edit: Also, if it IS damaged, and since I've had it for so long, would there even be anything that I can do about it?

Your board is still under warranty. If you haven't noticed any problems from using your pc, than there probably hasn't been any damage but who knows about tomorrow. Elusiv has already given you Asus's RMA number and to call them for a replacement.

I'll just ask this here, since I have no idea if it would be relevent to the chipset being broken. I have asked it in other threads and people kind of skirted around it and answered other questions. Why, in Task Manager (ctrl-alt-del) do I have exe's running that are already closed, and which I can't "End Task" on? And for that matter, why can't I "End Task" on some things that just stop responding...isn't Task Manager supposed to override everything and just kill the program when you do that? What is going on?! Please help!

Thanks,
Aip
