Chipset cooler on ASUS A8N

Due to the noise on the ASUS A8N chipset cooler, I have decided to change it. But, my rig is already installed onto the case already. I was wondering do I have to take the motherboard out completely to change the chipset cooler, or I can change even though it is dock on the case?

i believe you indeed do because the pins to remove the fan are on the back of the board.
