Chipset and LDT voltage on a DFI Ultra-D.

What guideline should I follow for these two voltages? I just bought a new PSU for my rig and want to see if I can tweak my OC a bit, but I've never really known the safe ranges for these voltages, and whether or not they actually affect your CPU/RAM OC. Any advice? Thanks.
 
there is absolutely no reason to push chipset voltage over 1.60v and LDT over 1.3v unless you are overclocking the HTT over 1000 (not advisable) or trying for 500FSB.

Mine will go way over 350+HTT with 1.60v on chipset, 1.3v on LDT
 
Awesome--so 1.6 and 1.3? In fact, it looks like you and I have similar setups... how's that BIOS revision workin out for you?

I just got new RAM though, and haven't tried any of the -1 or -3 bios, just this one based on -2 romsip table. Still trying to figure out which is best for UCCC. 🙂
 
Did you find that it significantly helped OCing? I'm gonna be running an Opty 144 soon and would LOVE to see it hit 2.8-2.9 GHz on air.

the different DFI bios versions shouldn't affect your CPU overclock one way or the other, they differ in how they deal with different kinds of memory.

I have to run my DFI NF4 chipset voltage @ 1.7 or my system will not stay stable (9x295). There have been numerous other people that have had to up it for stability as well. As usual, YMMV.
 
My brother is actually having problem with his Ultra SLI board inasmuch as it often doesn't boot properly.

If you've just edited the bios and saved changes it boots normally. However, most times otherwise it seems to hang in bios/windows about to load. I've been trying to trouble shoot what it is but I'm not absolutely sure yet.

Funny thing is the boad runs absolutely fine and stable from within Windows and any test he can throw at it - it's just start up that's funny.

Closest I've got to finding what it is is prob the motherboard either being faulty. Or else the motherboard having issues with the 2 x 1GB Crucial Ballistix RAM.

Reckon I should get him to up the voltages a bit and maybe improve stability? Or otherwise are there any specific bioses for 2 x 1GB Crucial Ballistix sticks?

That's a weird issue. Maybe up the CPU startup voltage? Most people leave this on auto but it may be worth a shot. The beta BIOS 704-2BT seems to be a good one for Crucial memory. Have you checked on DFI-street? There are some super knowledgeable people on there regarding DFI boards.

Ditto. I am not watercooling my chipset (I am using the evercool VC-RE) and my temps never exceed 45c at load.
 
1.3 and 1.6 seem to be stable for me at 270x9--prime95 cleared. but that's with a CPU voltage of 1.6v, on a Venice 3000+. I tried 275 but I fail prime95 within 5 min, and I'm not going to push my voltage any further than I have. My Opty should come today; maybe I'll have better luck with that.
