What The Fuck?

Then what you wanna do?

Annex Taiwan?

edit, from link:

Tariffs instead of CHIPS Act

Trump made it clear over the last few days that he will institute 25% tariffs on imported semiconductor devices, so it obvious that strategy is shifting from incentivizing US chip production to penalizing imports instead.

I mean. What? THAT DOESNT MAKE ANY SENSE.
Explain the TrumpLogic(tm) to me here.
How are you going to win the AI and shit if you can press any chips?

so it obvious that strategy is shifting from incentivizing US chip production to penalizing imports instead.

The only way I can read that is that : you dont want more better chips you want less and more expensive chips.

Maybe they'll be rehired again... that seems to be a theme here. Mass firing of everyone and then quietly rehiring people when they realize they made a big oopsies. Fucking idiots.

No. I believe the genius move by Elbridge Colby would be to destroy Taiwanese fabs if things went south between Taiwan and China.
Cant lose the chips game if there is no chips? Thats it?

Shitlol, erase Nvidia from the market with a bomb with no backup plan... Lets GOOOOOOOOOOO.

Aaahahahahaha I can see Jensen Huang flipping through the rolodex right now trying to find John Wick.

Also, the whole "let's bomb our ally" insanity... With friends like Colby, who needs enemies?

The great big lie, of intelligent billionaires.
Turns out they were just the fattest ugliest and most grotesque leeches in society.
And the American people wanted to bleed out more... and die faster to the disease.

No wonder people have mixed feelings on Mangione.

I love your optimism that they are ever going to aim. It's more like fire, fire, fire, fire, fire, fire, fire, fire, fire, it's the Dems who fucked it all up.

Agent Krasnov knows nothing but treason. He works to attack and destroy the United States in every possible way.

Trump calls for an end to the Chips Act
"Your Chips Act is a horrible, horrible thing"

The CHIPS and Science Act, signed into law in August 2022, is a U.S. federal law aimed at boosting domestic semiconductor manufacturing, research, and development. It provides $52.7 billion in funding to strengthen the U.S. semiconductor industry, reduce reliance on foreign supply chains, and enhance national security.

Key components:
  • $39 billion in manufacturing incentives, including subsidies and tax credits for chip production.
  • $13.7 billion for R&D, workforce training, and technology hubs.
  • A 25% investment tax credit for semiconductor manufacturing equipment and facilities.
  • Measures to prevent funding recipients from expanding advanced semiconductor production in China for 10 years.
The act is intended to revitalize U.S. chip production, support economic growth, and ensure technological competitiveness against global rivals, particularly China.

Maybe I'll be wrong on this but I actually have a feeling this will somehow survive.. because the special interests and big companies will lobby hard for it..

Congress tends to do what donors want..

Basically the inverse of Obama wanting to stop all aid to Israel and they lobbied hard against it.

I wish we little people had enough pull to convince them to not sabotage Medicare/ Medicaid but we're just not that rich enough.. but these companies are.

The medical industrial complex will defend Medicare and Medicaid to the death. Preventing the expansion of the Advantage plans will be harder.

It will fail. The current government don't want those things too. He wants to make the services as expensive as possible and replace the doctors with IA.

But is he going to tariff these companies in the 5-10 years to complete these fabs? Or is he just going to carve exceptions based on how much they kiss the ring? Typing this last line, yup this is his plan

Fabbing is a complicated business right. Who the f could have foreseen that Trump would tear up the chips act, who is going to make a big business decision like this on a foundation that flip flops every 4th year... its a matter of national security for the US ... Oh wait. If you were actively trying to DESTROY the US............... Then this makes sense.

Seemed mostly to be a big give away to an outfit that is becoming an also ran in the semiconductor industry. Should have been spread around more. Sorry Intel.

News just gets worse for Intel every few months, it seems.*
Who will own Intel in 5 years?

I was never team Blue or team Red, but seeing Intel crumble is a lot like seeing HP under Carly Fiorina's watch.

* I guess Battlemage launched to warm reviews, but what does it matter if there's no supply at MSRP?

Congress is symbolic at this point. At some point in the next couple of years Trump will dissolve it.

The tariffs aren't for any of that shit. Just take the simplest explanation: they're a sales tax on the people. They're designed to loot wealth from us and give it to the shitbag robber barons like Elon when our nazi king slashes their taxes. He's putting Elon's tax burden onto all of us.
