chipped cpu?

I just got my amd 3000 cpu w/ barton core from hardcorecooling. Everything looks fine except for a small chip (roughly about half a millimeter on one of the sides of the cpu), should the cpu be flawless? should I return this for a non chipped one? Any input would help, Thanks.

I read somewhere that soon as you put thermal compound on the chip the chip is yours and there is no way to return it. Is this true?

you can the clean thermal compound off and rma it if it doesnt work
