I was installing the Alpha PAL6035MFC on my new 1.13Ghz Tbird when I managed to chip two corners of the processor. Now it doesn't work. It was really difficult to install the heat sinc clips on the A7V133 motherboard. I bought the processor from Microx-press. Am I likely to be able to get a replacement either from the shop or from AMD directly? Any advice? Thanks.

I think you are SOL. You MAY be able to slip it by the shop... saying it was DOA, but I am not in anyway advocating this, merely presenting an option. (when did you buy the CPU?)

WHEN did you buy it? ...... If you sent it to AMD, they would probably notice the chipped corners and would not give you another processor.... So I am thinking your only chance is micro-press. But if they're the slightest bit intelligent about AMD cpu's, I think that you're not gonna get a replacement.

Hello EJG... sorry to hear about your chip.. I am using a Alpha PAL6035 also on an Iwill KK266-R motherboard and didnt have a problem with the clip. I am just wondering how long ago did you buy your Alpha? The earlier Alpha PAL6035 shipped with a tighter clip than the processors liked(hence the chipping).

Does anyone know exactly where the core sits under that 1mm thick glass top to the core (yes that top is made of glass, not the actual core)? The glass top to my CPU is chipped slightly, but on the bottom side of the CPU. The side opposite of where it says AMD.

I bet you the side where your CPU is chiped is the top side. The side where it says AMD. I think under that side is where the actual core is, but I'm not totally sure. That could be why yours is dead.
