I'm having problems with certain audio files when i play them on Media Player 10. They sound too fast and basically like chipmunks. It's not all files just some (very few actually). For example, any podcast I download from here: http://www.1up.com/do/minisite?cId=3149993 will have the problem.

This only happens in MP10, the files will play fine on other music software like quicktime, core media player etc.

If you want to examine one of the files in question, go here: http://download.gamevideos.com/Podcasts/072508.mp3 and save the file, can you see anything in its properties which may be causing conflict w/ media player 10?

What should i do? (Sorry if i haven't explained myself properly, i'm very tired)

It plays just fine for me in Media Player 10. There may be something wrong with your Media Player installation or the specific codec that it is using to play the audio files.

Could this have something to do with mono sound?

I've now noticed that this is mainly a problem with tracks that have mono sound and is exclusive only to media player 10, nothing else.

So is there some codec or some setting i need to alter in media player 10 so that it plays mono tracks properly?

I do remember installing an ace media codec pack a few months ago, which screwed up A LOT of things on my computer, but have since mostly rectified the problem, this is one of the few lingering problems, mp 10 didnt have this problem before.

Do you have X-fi sound card? If so change modes and try again. Creative tech support says this is motherboard driver related, but I'm still having the problem on occasion. I find it'll start after watching flash embed videos (ala. Youtube, etc.).

i had this problem when streaming audio/video from certain websites (now forgotten), but this only happened when I was running windows media player v9 under a limited regular user account.

works fine under admin account in winxp sp2.
