My chip fan on the A8NE has started giving me trouble
it gets stuck sometimes & then if i move it manually with a Brush it moves -- thought the RPM:s are considerably as low as 1500 as against 6-7000 normally

the mobo temperature is fine at 29-30 degrees Idle

I have read many complaints abt it recently -- can u guyz here plz tell me a Possible solution before it actually dies really & creates a problem

I feel ur pain man..
My A8N-E chipset fan only worked a couple of months before it started to make loud sounds or not work at all. I didn't want to wait for an RMA and have a downed computer so I bought a new A8N-E (still convinced asus is the best, despite the chipset fans) off newegg.
The new one i have has a revised fan that is totally different than the one of my original A8N-E. I've only had it a week so I can't tell u how its done.

My advice:

1. RMA it to newegg
2. Buy a passive chipset block cooler, zalman makes a good one. Make sure ur case has good airflow though.
3. Do what I did....?

oops..
I think the RMA has to be to ASUS and not Newegg. And they will rma it because the chipset fan failed. their number is 502-995-0883.

I had the same problem like many others. I called Asus Support and they sent me a new revised Fan working fine for the last 4 months.

I put a 40mm fan (taken from a Coolermaster northbridge heatsink) on the side of my Zalman NB47J. I still have good airflow in my case but the Zalman is now cooler to the touch.

mine also started making noise and i called asus and they sent me an updated fan.the original heat sink seemed better so i bought a sunyon fan 40mm x 20mm 6000rpm,and screwed it on tthe original heatsink and it works beautiful.temps are never over 38 under load and its quiet as can be.i removed the fan assy from the heatsink before i screwed the sunyon fan to it.it has 3 little holes in the base where the fan assy screwed into the heatsink and some air is pushed through these holes aiding in cooling it also.the replacement fan asus sends has no fins on it and i really believe the fan i now have mounted on top cools much better than the replacement fan asus sends you.
all mobo makers that have a small chipset fan running seem to have a problem with them going out, look at dfi, msi, theres make noise and need replacement also.its not just asus.its nice of asus to send you the updated fan without having to rma the board.the replacement fan is of better quality and isnt too bad but i think my idea works better.cost of sunyon fan 5.00.ill spend that anyday not to have to send my board back.this is one of the best boards ive owned, runs great.im a firm believer in asus boards,i use them in almost all of my personal builds.
