Chinese Women Killed by Runaway Shopping Cart

i saw a gif of that a few days ago. didnt realize it killed her

edit: well seeing that they say it weighed over 300 lbs yea i guess that would happen

Holy shit, video at bottom of link is pretty gruesome. Looks like a car wreck without a car. Why would they have one of those airport type walkways on an angle like an escalator?

Around here they have either walkways with slits that trap the wheels , or else separate specialized ones only for the carts.

Was it one of the former, but it just didn't trap the wheels? 330 lbs of stuff?

Yikes 🙁

You know there's someone up at the top of that ramp who let go of the cart and realized he/she killed that person.

Yep same. That's horrifying.

I was at a Target on Saturday and saw this escalator for the first time. There were carts at the bottom and I was like WTF how does this work. I went to the top and there was carts up to too so I just grabbed one there. When I left I went down the elevator. Fuck this shit I never going to use that escalator now that I seen this.

i wonder if it started with something like a text and someone just letting go of cart to reply.

Just came out of nowhere; reminds me of this:

Ouch.

Blame the elevator cartel for making elevators so prohibitively expensive that we are forced to use dangerous escalators for our multi-story shopping...

most grocery store/shopping malls in asia don't have special locks on these sort of "escalators", which are more like slightly sloped conveyer belts more than anything. The cart's wheels generally are designed to "stick" or grip onto the surface of the conveyer belt. It's actually extremely hard to push the cart when you're on those conveyer belts.

Culprit is most likely China quality conveyer belts which are just made of plastic and has shit for safety measures. Cart probably doesn't even stick on the conveyer belt.

People arent supposed to use the cart escalator...but, I have no idea what kind of setup this store has because there is only one escalator....

According to a commentary on a liveleak video the store does have carts that lock onto the escalators, but the men were using a different type for some reason.
