Chinese Smoking Chipanzee

How does it get cigs to begin with? 😕

I was wondering the same thing. Maybe the Chineese have figured out how to fully intergrate Chimps in to their society (Talk about embracing diversity!). She must have gone to the quckie mart to buy them with money she earns as a waitress.

at first it picked up discarded butts that the visitors left, and then it became so funny (to some people) to see a chimp puff on one that visitors freely gave him the lit rolled turds.

The way I look at it is; She got her hands on some cigs and put the "Monkey see, monkey do" idea into practice. As tobbacco is an addictive drug, she got hooked and continued to smoke them, more excessively when not using energy and time with her mate.

I don't think this has anything to do with human qualities or emotion other than watching and copying humans (chimps are notorious for this). Your original analysis is very questionable

I'm wondering how she lights the damned things, let alone get them.

likely as someone else said, visitors saw her putting the butts in her mouth, thought it was funny and gave her lit cigarettes. now that she's hooked zoo officials probably figure they can make a bunch of money off keeping the habit alive...i'd go to see it 🙂
