Chinese scam video cards - GTX970 for 40? No way its real! What is it?? :)

I found one of these cheap chinese cards online for $40! I know its fake, but I was curious! It seems like they are getting better because at least the name on TechPowerUp GPU-Z comes back as GTX970.

What card is this actually? I do have a posted screenshot from TechPowerUp GPU-Z:

I’d imagine that it’s not that hard to make a video BIOS that can generate fake chip data to CPU-Z, but that’s probably a Photoshop.

You should buy one, just for kicks! I’m curious if you’ll even be able to power on the system with the card attached. If so, I bet that the tops out at 800x600 at 16 bit 2D resolution.

Edit: Actually, there are YouTube videos about these. Apparently, they are reflashed GeForce 450’s. You can do basic 3D gaming with them, working about as well as you should expect an 8 year old $40 video card to work.
