Chinese preserved eggs

Me thinks not.

My friend just gave me one to try. "It's really good. They are my favorites!"
Of course I was hesitant to try this monstrosity - eggs are supposed to be white or brown on the outside, not black. And this is the friend who eats all that exotic stuff - chicken hearts, chicken feet, etc.

I guess it was a lapse in my peer pressure protective shield, but I said "sure". I took the egg out of it's plastic container and tried to take a bite. Nope, skin was too tough - kinda like trying to bite through a raquetball. Took a stronger bite.. . success!??? Inside was pasty and salty, ugh. So I told him, "this sucks!". He wanted it back, but i won't give it back to him. I'll finish this darn thing to prove my manliness.

Anyway, this friend of mine doesn't like uni either. We must have opposite tastes.

Isn't grass-fed organic dry-aged prime beef an American delicacy?

Preserved egg is great in congee. I don't know if I could stomach eating it alone (and I eat tripe, chicken feet, etc.)

generally gross. maybe a hint in congee is good, but eating it straight has always icked me out a bit. i can handle it but i wouldn't choose it. that being said it was kinda funny to see it on fear factor a while back.
