when i say good or bad.... i meant comparing chinese government to usa gov, which is better?

i think chinese gov is awful... but then maybe the media portrays chinese gov as such. i was chatting with my ex. she's living in shanghai n supports her gov whole heartedly. she said americans misunderstood chinese gov. maybe chinese media portrays a different story. she knows chinese gov is not perfect, nothing is. but chinese gov is so much better than usa.

im all confused

less rights given to people=bad government
Chinese people have less rights (censorship on so many things for one) so IMO their government sucks

What were her reasons why Chinese govt is better? Interesting

I'm sorry to hear about your emotional difficulties with this question. Perhaps a break from contemplating it would be in order while you recover some mental strength.

heh, what is this, did Chinese bashing season just began? No country is perfect alrite? you wanna talk human right violation, read what Amnesty international has to say about USA Human Right violations. Wanna talk about trade? What about US with it's power in World Bank, IMF bankrupting smaller countries. Wanna talk about pollution? Heh, do I have to remind ppl who is the number 1 consumer of oil, and number polluter on this planet? Wanna talk poverty, go to the inner city and see what kinda life some US citizen is living. Wanna talk being a bully? Who is the number 1 arm producer, and the only one country still waging a war in some other country?

There are problems in China, but there are problem in the US too. Guess some ppl rather point fingers at the others and feel superior rather than trying to mind their own business and make themself better.

What happened to that guy who was standing in front of the tank?

Did the tank end up running him over?

Of course, I say worse. However, I'm also of the mind that the only good government is a small government controlled by the people. There are not many of those around.

Freedoms? Extreme Chinese censorship is unquestionably forced upon is society.

Pollution? If any American city was as polluted as the typical industrial Chinese city where air pollution is as thick as fog, the uproar would be furious.

Fair Trade? Trade imbalance with China reaches record $725 Billion in 2005. and their theft American intellecutal property is notorious.

Do the same search here and see the real picture.

Chinese Government Sucks...but the USA's government also sucks, so for what it is worth...
I can be a little specific though-
although I will say the US government at the moment has less suckage domestically, but it still sucks...but we have more suckage when it comes to foreign affairs. China has less suckage internationally mainly because they can't throw themselves around militarily like we can, but domestically suckage is currently far pass the US's suckage.

Note: If I wasn't clear enough...both suck.

Dang, it must take lots of special talent to link some google search.

The great US of A is causing how many death in Iraq everyday and you are worrying about censorship?

If American city is so clean, how does American rank #1 in both total CO2 emission and CO2 emission per capital?

Finally, your $725 billion imbalance figure is with the world, not just with China. About $200B was with China. Why don't you get your fact straight first and then go hit some book on why your country have such a huge trade deficit and what economic policy you can implement to reduce that.

When many Americans blame huge trade deficit, they forget how many trade restrictions US insists.

Steal what technology?

Intellecutal property is protected by many Chinese laws.

The violation is viewed as a crime, but there exist criminals in every country.

Gates should have more words to say than you.

Good or bad is a relative question.

But for the first time in at least 500 years the Chinese people have a government that is growing the economy and becoming part of the modern world------that alone will change the world and its center of gravity in profound ways.

As the Chinese people expect more--its likely their government will become less repressive. But there is no predicting politics.

But China is rapidly industrialising--at huge social costs---and is really polluting its own land. But only a fraction of China is adapting---what will it be in ten or 20 years when the transformation is more complete?

Yes. You can worry about both things. You don't need to only worry about either the US in Iraq, or China's support for genocide in Sudan and others countries.

If American city is so clean, how does American rank #1 in both total CO2 emission and CO2 emission per capital?

The US is not #1 in co2 emission per capita.link

[*]Dang, it must take lots of special talent to link some google search.

So many articles, so little time. And yes I dont live in China or they would all be censored.

[*]If American city is so clean, how does American rank #1 in both total CO2 emission and CO2 emission per capital?

Yes we do have our problems, but nothing in comparsion to China.

[*]Finally, your $725 billion imbalance figure is with the world, not just with China. About $200B was with China.

Yup, your right. Fully 1/3 of the worlds figure is due to 100% to Chinese unfair trade practices like dumping goods in the US, keeping the yuan undervalued, using prison labor, etc. Good point.

Ok. All Americans go to the congress and ask to cut off trade relations with China.

Certainly China would lose, and how about US?

No, thats not the answer. But a start would be to allow their currency to be set by the markets and put a stop to counterfeiting and IP theft. Also open all markets to American goods.
