A maximum sentence of 15 years in prison and $1.25 million in fines? Yeah, I think that's enough. Assuming he does the full time, he'll be 83 when he is released from prison, and a hell of a lot poorer. I don't think there's much reason to execute him.

When $80+ dollar jeans is the norm, when higher inflation and consumer goods/electronics prices are perfectly acceptable and profitable...
Hell right now America's economy needs to keep prices as low as possible.
With all these exposed Chinese spy's it makes you wonder how deep and secret the US spy network is in China. If the US starts executing Chinese spys don't be expecting any mercy when the Chinese do the same to accused US spys.
You don't think the US spies on China and Israel?
Hell, I would bet money Canada and the US spy on one another.

Everyone spies on everyone. Would you like to become an isolationist country perhaps? Close the borders to every country who has ever trespassed against you? See how that works?. There is a reason some countries have very big public "clandestine" budgets, it isn;t to look pretty.

I think that sending him to West Virginia would be roughly equivalent to deporting him to a 3rd world country. Too cruel IMO. Life in prison is appropriate.

Seconded. As someone that recently became a U.S. citizen, I do not tolerate this kind of bullshit by any means. Once you take the oath, you are giving up your allegiance.
That being said, it's understandable that espionage will happen because of money (ie someone gets paid off). But if you're doing that just to support your "homeland", you should be shot ....plain and simple.
