Ok, a refresh, I bought THIS card:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/GTX970-4GB...E-VGA-HDMI-For-NVIDIA-GeForce-LN/163063687862

And it shows up as a "Nvidia GTX 960", with "4096MB" memory.

What gets me, though, is according to GPU-Z sensors tab, core clock and shader clock are not the same, and it shows up with "192 Unified Shaders".

Also, on the backside of the card, there is no ram soldered on the pads, although there are spots for them.

So, is this a glorified 1GB GTX 550(ti)? Seems like it.

Can't mine crypto worth a (bleep).

I figure a real GTX 960 ought to be able to, at least a little.

Edit: Yeah, AVOID!

Btw, this card can only do 1080P, it won't seemingly do 4K UHD, like my GT630 (real) / GT730 cards will do.

GTX 550 TI has a 192-bit memory bus width so probably not. The 960 has a 128 bit width so that sounds more likely. It may be a limited production run of the 960 with 4GB of RAM, or they may have messed with the bios to get it to say it's got 4GB RMA when it doesn't. Not sure how to test the "true" amount of RAM.

192 shaders is certainly not any sort of 960.

It's almost certainly a hacked 550Ti .

What were the rest of the reported specs? Were they the same as the 550 TI linked above? They look pretty similar.

Read my post #20. Possible Fermi based GTS 450?

GTS 450 board doesn't seem to match, imo.
Meaning?

The last generation with separate shader clocks was Fermi and this below is what I posted. It seems Virtuallarry is getting these in GPU-Z

Possible Fermi based GTS 450?
  • - Shaders: 192 Unified
  • - Core Speed: 783MHz
  • - Shader: 1566MHz

Looking at the boards and component layouts that are visible, the 550Ti I linked to seems to match exactly the card Larry lists in post #27.

If he showed a GPU-Z screen shot, I don't see it.

No screen shot but he said:

"What gets me, though, is according to GPU-Z sensors tab, core clock and shader clock are not the same, and it shows up with "192 Unified Shaders"."

And if I remember correctly, the Ebay page had the specs I quoted. Not there anymore.

Checked and realized 450GTS and 550Ti are pretty much the same die, so you're probably correct.
