I just got back from a 16 day vacation in China (I left shanghai this morning, monday. In transit, the sun set, and rose again, and when I got to saint louis is was still monday. fscking date line).

Anway, I see more Volkswagons and French cars than I see chinese cars. That says alot.

BTW, what do you guys know about the Volks Santana 2000? I saw them all over the place in china and they are sweet cars, but I haven't seen them anywhere else.

edit: btw, china doesn't do the whole child labor thing. They have more than enough adults.

i also wondered about the santana 2000. it seemed very common when i went to china. but did you notice like every other car was a european make!!! there were tons of benzes and BMWs and VWs rolling around, several hondas, but almost 0 chinese makes.

IIRC, the Santanas are all made in China under a partnership between VW and some local Chinese company. A lot of foreign car companies are doing this in China now... I know Buick opened a plant not long ago.
