Just got back from the local Chinatown night market. They started this thing about 3 or 4 years ago as a way to revitalize the China town area and draw people back on weekend nights. It's done fairly well over the years. It's similar to other asian night markets you might have seen overseas though without some of the authenticity of those. Most of the stalls are just selling trinkets and other junk. Lots of junky jewelry, hand bags, pocket knives, leather bags, iphone cases and such. Also quite a few food stalls. Anyone here have something similar in their city?

Looks cool. I don't think we have enough of an Asian population around here to do anything like that. We have annual ethnic festivals, but I usually just go to the German and Irish festivals.

Yeah Vancouver is VERY Chinese. Depedning on the figures you look at Chinese and other East and South East Asian groups make up about 20-30 percent of our population. Richmond where I currently work is like a little piece of Taiwan / Hong Kong minus the skyscrapers and hot weather.

Isn't richmond like 50% asian?

I'm guessing that's supposed to be 50 percent? Yeah it's 50 percent or higher. Wiki says that its immigrant population is 59 percent most of which is Chinese.

Looks like the typical place that gets raided by the police for counterfeit goods.

Ahh yes that's what you meant by Raid. Yeah wouldn't be surprised. However I haven't actually seen anything at these stalls that were labelled as any brand name. Most of the stuff was no name junk brands.

We sorta have a Chinatown here, I mean they sell all stuff from China - it's called Walmart.
