If we don't straighten up are act and get it together is China that's going to be telling us what to do. They are cutting back by 40%. What does Palin suppose we do? Maybe she thinks god will save us as we oink down more oil then any other country on the planet.

Adding to the emission control efforts already under way, China last month announced it would reduce the intensity of carbon emissions per unit of its GDP in 2020 by 40 to 45 percent against 2005 levels.

Furthermore do you understand what they are saying? They are trying to become more efficient which should be the goal of all economies. Not reduce carbon emissions. Our efficiency blows China's out of the water on a per unit of GDP. Our economy is nearly 3 times as large and we have less emissions. So maybe by 2020 they will match our 1990 levels of efficiency? China grows 135 million metric ton's of Rice a year. Compare that with American Grown rice of a measly 3.9 million metric tons.

For the record, the apple did originate in the middle/far east so I would expect them to be on top of the game.

But, China is taking steps to curb pollution. China is working hard to limit population growth. China's industries are producing better and better goods. 30 years ago, it was all junk. At some point, they transitioned to "just good enough" and that's what's now sold at Walmart in mass quantities. China has been investing in their educational system - their universities are rapidly catching up the the U.S.'s. But, we still have the best in the world, so we don't need to improve.

I'm not sure just what China is doing. They have a habit of just flat out lying, and if you are a citizen you won't want to disagree. The "official" stories one gets are never to be trusted without independent verification.
