Does anyone know?

I plan to take a trip there and I'd like to go during their summer, I am just unsure of when their seasons are.

Yes I guess I was.

I never looked into it and didn't exactly put the hemisphere corelations together before because I previously had no interest in this.

Shame, shame on me!

I have failed you all!

So I've heard!

I'm prepared!

Is the food expensive?

Anyone know how much I'd have to spend a week to eat semi-comfortably? I'm willing to sacrifice not being completely full every night so I can fund this trip. But I don't want to die with chinese bugs in my teeth because I can't afford a decent meal.

food = uber cheap because of currency conversion. i believe it's 8.soething yuan to 1 usd... maybe a bit lower now but should be around there

example: we went to a very good hotpot place, dinner for around 9 ppl, came to under 200 yuan so about 20 USD (or was it 300... even then it would be under 40 usd for 9 ppl at a pretty nice place)

man, good food is still dirt cheap in china. there are so many resturants that the cometition is insane. The prices seem expensive in yuan, but once you convert to american, its cheap.

schweet!

So I guess I'd be expected to pay around 20 dollars a week on food to stay alive!

There's a certain comfort knowing you're not going to die hungry in China!

I've also looked up round trip tickets and those seem to run from anywhere from 1300 to 3000+ dollars.

Anyone have any recommendations?

I have lodging etc. set up. I'm going to stay at a shaolin school and train while I'm there. (A legitimate, recognized by the temple schooll) The lodging and working out seems fairly decent, around 20+/- dollars a day for both. Plus I've trained pretty hard before so I know I can handle it, and I also know the temple is now modernized etc. and I won't be there punching eagles out of the sky or having all out brawls with other students and challenging their head monks.

I'm fairly poor but I'll be damned if I don't see the world before I'm worm food.

Wow, just wow at the OP.

I'm also surprised that some of you seem to think the weather is the same in all of China. It's far too large to make generalizations about how hot it is in the summer or how cold it is in the winter.

And while we're on the topic, can someone tell me what time of year winter is in Canada?

Bueller? Bueller? Anyone... Bueller?

Where can I go to find the cheapest flights?

I really don't care if I have to sleep in the back with chickens in a crate as long as I can afford it.

And I know there will be chickens everywhere and I have to get one when I'm there because I've seen movies!

Cathy Pacific or Eva airlines are the cheapest. Try your local Asian travel agency. If you book way ahead, you can get good deal. Some times, those bargain sites are decent like orbitz or priceline. Book way ahead.
