Haha I love it how the guy is talking about it blatantly right in his face yet the umbrella guy is still acting all nonchalant.

Maybe under international law it's assault since it's a public place. I don't know for sure though.

I'm surprised they didn't shoot the reporter. They seem to do whatever they want anyways.

I went to China back in November and was more than surprised when I could log onto Facebook.

People are FAR too focused on prosperity right now here too may much attention to such issues. Just got back from a mall downtown here in Shanghai that makes most of the malls back home look like run down strip malls. The sheer amount of development here is mind boggling. The Shanghai skyline looks more impressive than NYs I'd say. This is not to say that there aren't problems. Poverty is still a huge issue and the average standard of living is still low but damn its hard not to be impressed by it all when you are here.

All that, and a per capita income of less than $2000. Must suck to be one of the people who are bringing that average down.

NY's skyline used to be a little more impressive.

Yes it does suck to be poor here. But then it sucks to be poor anywhere and the truth is that even those near the bottom have quite a lot more than they did 20 years ago. The economy here operates on many more levels than it does back home for the most part. Prada hand bags are going to cost you about the same as back home and there are lots of high end stores that sell them. But you will also find tons of street vendors that sell food, clothing, utensils and you name it for far far cheaper so the average person can live better than it might sound.

And the thing about the NY skyline. Come on you know that's not what I meant.

Sorry, I wasn't implying that you meant anything. :)
