Agree with you 100% there. Their work and study ethics seem to be at another level compared to the majority of home-bred Americans.

It has always been that way, the best and brightest come to American universities to learn and many stay in the US. Those hard workers are not a cross section of the Indian and Chinese populations either. Poor farmers aren't gonna cross the ocean to study in a college are they.

The U.S. is the economic and military powerhouse in the world and wants to keep it that way. While we may have good relations with China now, our ideologies still differ vastly, and we should be wary of any increase in their military arsenal.

Okay...in basic terms, this call to "tame this tiger" is one concerned with halting the growth of a nation with a different (or incompatible) ideology than our own, which you can generalize as democratic/capitalistic. But do we really have to do anything?

Scenario #1: China stays on a different ideological path than the free world. The necessity of their system requiring restrict outside communication turns completely destructive and China is relegated back into a 3rd or 4th place contestant in the real geo-political game of hegemony via ideas, culture and intellectual property. No need to lift a finger; if they tried, they'd get smacked down with a vengeance and they know it.

Scenario #2: China, spurred by the need for communication and private property rights and small business management, gradually liberalizes until they become a mirror image of Japan (but with a lot more real estate). Our ideologies match, and furthermore everyone with a brain realizes that destroying or bankrupting your biggest trading partners is bad for business. No need to lift a finger; they wouldn't even want to try.

Agreed the F-22 is a nice plane but its not fault proof. Keep in mind that its also unfathomably expensive, something like 150 mil a piece.

I agree its not fault proof, but if they get all the bugs worked out it will be an incredibly formidable fighter, by far the most advanced airplane to ever take flight in a service role. And it is incredibly expensive, a large part of that expense is due to the stealth technologies that are used.
But, considering its advantage over any other aircraft in the air we'd only need a few dozen to have total and complete air supremecy over any battlefield in the world. The biggest problem wouldnt be engaging targets or getting to the target or making it hime, the biggest problem with the Raptor fleet (In an all out war) is going to be keeping them fully armed and in the air. It'll literally just be a ferry. Go to base, arm, go to hotspot and drop 8 targets, go to base and rearm, repeat......

I don't think China wants to fight the US either, but I think China wants the world to know it's a force to be reckon with. I'm not sure the new defense budget or the new space program will ease the restlessness for the majority of the Chinese population, who still live in the rural areas. Most of them are still very poor and they are getting fed up with the government, especially with the local communist bosses. Angry farmers are a dangerous force to be reckon with too.
