Liu Dongmei -- eight months pregnant -- had been rushed to the hospital with internal bleeding and stomach cramps.
She later had an emergency birth, but the baby was neither breathing nor crying after leaving the womb and its skin had turned purple, it said.
Believing it was dead, the medical team disposed of the child but did not follow proper hospital procedures, the statement added.
The Foshan News, a local website, reported that when Liu's sister-in-law asked to see the body around 30 minutes after birth, she was handed a yellow plastic bag containing the infant and found it was still alive.
"I opened the plastic bag and saw the baby's hands and feet moving, the stomach was going up and down and air bubbles were coming out of his mouth," the paper quoted her as saying.
She was further shocked when she saw the baby was a boy -- not a girl as the family had been told, it said.

Ah yes count on the forums to come to the defense of China on its baby policies. China's treatment of babies/fetuses is inhumane.

Americans do the same thing . Ya want proof ask DR Paul or watch the video he talks about it. Also take your head out of your ass.

In India there still exists a bit of cannibalism. Not enough to be statistically relevant to the average citizen there whatsoever, but interesting.

OP story is not really any more relevant. There indeed are a lot of real problems with China's overpopulation and official policies towards families, but an error at a hospital is not exactly unique to China.

The OP could have sighted a 1000 instances of state sponsored inhumane treatment on the part of China or another 1000 showing a low regard for human life among the Chinese people, but he chose to take an act of incompetence by a hospital's staff and touted that as something it's not. No one is coming to the defense of China.

I have a hard time believing that happened in China. If it happened in China it would have been served on a plate and she would have been given a knife and fork, and it would be half cooked. :awe: Breakfast in bed.
