uuhhh no. Thats not my contention. My contention is...I dont give two shits what other countries think of POTUS candidates.

When they prefer him because he is easily manipulated to their benefit and not ours, you really should.

This is pretty much common sense, they view Trump has a much weaker negotiator than any other potential US president because he’s corrupt and because he is likely willing to cheaply concede long term US interests in areas China expected to pay dearly for.

I’m sure they don’t like the trade war but that’s where we already are. There’s no potential president on the US side that’s a weaker counterparty than Trump so of course they would prefer him.

Is that why the Chinese preferred Obama?
Is there a particular reason? It sure seems like it’s important!

Why does it seem that way? You raised the question in post 6.

Let me ask you this. Do you care what Venezuela thinks about us? Syria? NKorea? Yemen? Because I sure dont.

Basically China thinks Trump is corrupt and easily bribed, that he's so incompetent at negotiations that his presence on our side gives them an advantage, and that he's undermined the US system of alliances which gives China a strategic advantage.

I mean they aren't wrong there!

Is that why the Chinese preferred Obama?

Probably not, I doubt the average person being polled in China was considering Obama’s negotiating prowess? I mean do you think that’s why?

Why does it seem that way? You raised the question in post 6.

Generally speaking it’s bad when an adversarial foreign government prefers your president because they are weak and easily manipulated! Like, really bad!

Let me ask you this. Do you care what Venezuela thinks about us? Syria? NKorea? Yemen? Because I sure dont.

It would absolutely concern me if any of those countries preferred a candidate of either party because they thought they were easily manipulated.

It’s frankly shocking that you don’t care about such a serious vulnerability. I mean you’ve seen how Trump has been rolled so far, you aren’t concerned about just how bad a deal he will cut to get out of the headlock China has him in?

The Chinese fully realize that useful idiots that control a whole powerful nation like the USA are very hard to come by but when they do, why not take full advantage of the situation?

All they have to do is bribe Trump with future resort buy-in's and preferential treatment for his kids.

It's just that simple.

Cool. Some anonymous guy said....
And what part of the substance isn't true?

I see no one in this topic has really cared to address the substantive points made by the Chinese.
IT DOES NOT MATTER WHO SAID IT, IF IT IS TRUE.
  1. “Trump is a businessman. We can just pay him money and the problems will be solved,”
  2. Trump’s unfiltered tweets help China in negotiations because he is “easy to read,”
  3. “Trump has undermined the U.S.-led alliance system, which has improved China's international environment,”
All 3 points are fine reasons why Trump is unfit to be President. Trump actively harms the United States in international affairs.

I doubt it very much. The Chinese saying they want Trump isn't good for Trump which is why they do it.
There is that. On the other hand maybe China is eyeing a new axis of power on the planet, one where they dont have to deal with the US when it comes to human rights and whats not... I think China prefers the autocracies to anything "democratic"... you see how they cozy up to Russia. The trade wars may not even be of Trumps making .. who do you think whispered those sweet words "trade wars, so easy to win, donald, go do it" in the big oranges ears? Phone call with Putin perhaps?

America, death by a thousand cuts. Trade war being one such cut.

Are you senile? I ask because it appears that you don't remember your claim or you think a poll of citizens is somehow similar to people in government and you think a poll asking people who they prefer is somehow similar to government officials who prefer trump because the guy is a fucking moron who is easily manipulated (just like his supporters).

It's WHY they want him, not that they want him. But that involves some thought..

I think the statements were crafted to appeal to the cognitive biases of Trump haters.

The Chinese would very much like to normalize trade. The reason that hasn't happened is precisely because Trump is a poor negotiator & a welcher. Just when you think you have a deal he wants to change it so you get screwed. He lies & manipulates to get to that point. He wants too much so you have to give him nothing. You can't make a deal you can live with. That's just reality. Once that's understood the answer is to wait him out & hope you can deal better with his successor. Him winning re-election is simply not in the rational interests of the Chinese.

The simple truth is that Trump thought he could bully them, that they were weak. Bad mistake. They can't & won't reward his thuggery.

At this point, Trump supporters are acting exactly like abused spouses who refuse to turn on their abuser and will defend them to the end.

It's rather sad to see, actually.

Not sure why China would care who the President is considering that American consumers and investors have been serving Chinese interests just fine for the past two decades.

China as with Russia absolutely would prefer Donald Trump to continue as president. Communist thrive on the self destruction of democracy and self destruction of freedom, and for them Donald Trump is just the guy to deliver that. Communist countries know from experience that Donald Trump is no American patriot, is more than willing to thump his nose at the US constitution, and perverts American law so why wouldn't the communist simply love Donald Trump? Trump makes America WEAK, and that is just what China needs. And Putin hopes for.

You probably just haven't been informed by Fox News about how much China is benefiting from his Presidency in most other aspects. Hell, SK is considering letting China be their daddy instead of us. Keep white-knighting for him though.

Not sure why you would be uninformed... can you think of any news sources you visit that are acting in bad faith?

Per this topic, we know exactly why China would care:
  1. “Trump is a businessman. We can just pay him money and the problems will be solved,”
  2. Trump’s unfiltered tweets help China in negotiations because he is “easy to read,”
  3. “Trump has undermined the U.S.-led alliance system, which has improved China's international environment,”

China has been benefitting from American consumerism, which has now made them a global power. Keep viewing history and the world through your TDS goggles.

China could also be following Russia’s lead in throwing red meat into the divisive social media pool.

Trump just signed a bill in support of the Hong Kong protestors. Bet China just loves that!

Because this trade war hurts them & us both. It can't be resolved with Trump in office.
