I just bought a 20 ft container of marble blocks. The shipping to Boston cost more than the product. The whole thing cost me less than $1500 though. I can literally build a garden shed out of marble for less than I can hire someone locally to build one out of wood.

I'm prolly just gonna mess around with stonehenge-style antics. Or maybe i'll give marble carving a shot...

One of the sources I talked to will make museum-quality reproductions for filthy cheap. They'll even recreate the original artists tool marks. For a marble bust of Homer like the one in the British Museum, I was quoted $300 USD, FOB China. They're sending me a fiberglass mockup for $75, shipped via DHL.

Well gl drilling in marble and planting any fasteners will prove problematic. That's why it's used on floors not load bearing walls.
