Oh crap.

Question: Where the hell is the B747 laser platform? I know about the 707 (Or, well, C-135) laser labs, but the 747 is gonna be a BEASTLY weapon.

Since photons DO hit the mirror causing the atoms to viberate giving off an identical photon, the vibration would have to be within the phase change limits(vaporization or sublimation) of the material....

I believe that mirror would get quite hot...VERY hot

Would not be a silicon and aluminum backed mirror, have to be some industrial heavy duty mirrors that are used inside lasers, except much larger

Not to be pedantic, but light is not a mechanical wave, it is an electromagnetic wave; there are no vibration of atoms, otherwise it wouldn't propagate in a vacuum.

Most people refer to any wavelength in the spectrum as simply "light." It's a lot easier than saying electromagnetic radiation every time.

Ok did you just get out of high school physics or something because this is your second physics releated post that i've seen you in and in both you act like you know what your talking about but don't. When light hits a surface energy is transfered to the surface in the form of heat which is just vibrations. If the atoms vibrate enought then they would vaporize.

So you are saying that when light hits a surface it can't pass thru like a mirror it doesn't excite the atoms? There is no need to get into a detialed description of what happens and the person who you called wrong gave an ok description, but i'm not going to stop you from whining about the definitions of words.
