I am getting ready to buy myself a new mac. One with that nice new 8800. I am worried prices might soon raise due to the earth quake in china. What do you guys think?

I don't think you need to be worried about it. At most there will be some shipping delays if the area where the factories are were hit, but Apple's not going to change their prices.
