Chili to die for

episodic

Lifer
Ok - I rump roast cut up (about a pound)
1 pound ground beef
1 onion
1 tablespoon diced garlic

Brown and drain all of that

Then add
1 can diced tomatoes
1 can rotel
1 can tomato sauce (8 oz)
1 cube beef broth
1 cube chicken broth
3 tomato sauce cans of water
6 tablespoons chili powder
1 tablespoon cumin
1 tablespoon cayenne
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon tabasco sauce
1 jalepeno pepper diced
2 hot dried red peppers (crush em and soak them in a cheescloth sack in the chili)
1/2 teaspoon oregano
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
3/4 teaspoon meat tenderaizer
1/2 teaspoon season salt
3 oz of semi sweet chocolate morsels (like what you use in choc chip cookies)
1 can your favorite beens washed and drained (don't dump the juice in)

Brown the meat - add everything else - cook three hours - adjust water to desired consistency.

plus too much ingredient. as a person who don't cook regularly, I am not getting a new bottle of cumin, cayenne, and oregano just for this.

I wasn't going to respond, but you got a lot of negativity over this, so I might as well chime in and say this sounds really good.

I make it similar, except I've started using skirt steak cut up into cubes. It's cheap, but it has the benefit that the connective tissue breaks down to where the meat kinda threads apart when you eat it. It gives you really good texture. I mix that with an equal part of ground pork or lamb, browned separately, and drained about half.

I also use more beans, one of the big cans of Goya black or pinto beans. The beans plus the larger pieces of meat (as opposed to using all ground) works well, sometimes I throw in a can of hominy just to add something else substantial in there.

None of this is really much work. If you don't want to buy the spices separately, just buy your favorite chili seasoning, it contains most of these. Just buy the peppers of your choice to adjust the heat, since most seasoning mixes are pretty mild. Other than cutting up some meat and vegetables, you're dumping cans into a pot. And it'll feed one person for a long time, or a family for a couple of nights.

Oh, one last thing, try the chocolate. I don't add it to the pot since not everyone likes it, but I do add a couple pieces to my bowl. I like dark chocolate, but it's good with (or without) whatever you like.

I mean, sh!t i use more than 1 TBS in almost EVERYTHING.

Edit: also you dont "brown" fresh garlic. Too bitter...
