I suppose this entire post was to illustrate another reason SS marriage is bad.
Oh wow. Two married people falling out of love?
And with kids?
Naturally this has never happened in the hetrosexual world.
Oh wait.... They invented it.

My 'solution', which it isn't, I didn't have anything to do with it, is that we already have a system in place that determines what is in the best interest of the child. This has nothing to do with gay marriage, but with non biological parents occasionally being viewed as more fit parents, or partially responsible for the upbringing of a child without them taking the proper adoption proceedings.

IF you have a problem with that, I suggest you make a thread about it that doesn't have some anti gay agenda.

After having been exposed to most of TH's threads, I'm not sure he's capable of making a thread that isn't anti-gay.

Yes, yes I know all about the puppy thread. However I submit that one or both of the puppies, regardless of their physical gender will soon be humping TH's or his wife's legs.

On topic: yes, our laws are woefully out of step with our technology and societal issues.

the real problem is that Texashiker and other like-minded cow-tipping aficionados of the country actually place validity on a subject simply because it appears on sites like brietbart.com.

"I read it there, therefore it must be relevant!"

You sir, win the internets.

Id say the court given the availability information does a decent job of holding all parties accountable for the child. and I pay a fuckton per month in support, have no problem doing it either, my kids after all its the very least I can do.

Accountability goes past just paying support.

If the couple in the opening post where man and woman, the state would have the man in a choke hold with one arm, and have the other hand in his bank account.

People can protest and stop and prevent marriage equality once opposite sex marriage is perfect and without problems. Until then, straight people need to stop throwing stones.

Gays could help promote marriage equality by demanding equal responsibility.

If you want to demand equal rights, then demand equal responsibility at the same time.

Remind me where in this thread where anyone said gay marriage was bad?

Just to clarify things, where are the gay rights communities and activist when it comes to taking responsibility? Where are the protestors? Where are the groups demanding the woman in the opening post pay child support and provide health insurance?

Chances are the gay rights community would run away from situations like this because women would be required to take responsibility for their actions. There are no men to demonize, no men there for womens groups to point the finger at.

This is what it boils down to folks, TH's irrational fear that gay rights groups exist to demonize men...

Obviously the thought of gay sex gives Texas a tingle and his shame drives him, nay compels him to fixate on every and all gay related media articles

Did you even read the article you linked? The woman is trying to take responsibility and she'll likely be denied visitation and other responsibilities (such as child support) because Texas doesn't legally consider her the child's parent. Who exactly is trying to duck out of their responsibility here? What an asinine statement to make.

In this case, I don't see that as Texas' fault. I think the real issue is that she didn't file for adoption papers to share custody.

now....is that because Texas wouldn't allow her to? I understood that it was due to negligence on her part.

Please don't help TH make this a gay issue when it really isn't. :D

Good point. I'd noticed that as well.

Would it really be negligence? Were they a couple when the child was adopted? If so, and if Texas allowed them both to adopt, then I suppose it might be considered negligence (although cost may also have been a factor) but lots of straight parents file for joint custody and/or visitation of a child they helped raise but did not adopt.
