Chik-Fil-A is awesome

So normally I don't touch fast food, and I honestly haven't for the last 6+ years since college days.

But I had a craving for some Chik-Fil-A nuggets and some delicious waffle fries.

Holy crap - They have the most legit fast food establishments I've ever seen. The drive-thru line was ginormous, but they apparently have mastered the modern art of efficiently running one. Cute friendly girls with tablets come to the car and take your order. Every single time they are the friendliest fast food workers I've ever encountered. I'm much more used to people that look like they want to kill themselves. On top of that, they even ask you if you want any condiments. I remember the days of where fast food places would be guardians of the rich BBQ sauce, and you had to fight just to get 2 or 3.

After taking your order they then tell you which vehicle to follow behind of and from there they usually just hand people their meals one after the other. Lighting quick speed. Also eating inside is awesome, very clean establishment.

Also it was still delicious. Well done Chik-Fil-A. Well done.

I ate there last night. Fourth free sandwich in a row, got another survey code on the receipt, so I'll be on my longest streak yet of five free sandwiches.
The waffle fries are so much better if you order them well done, then they actually come out crispy.

whenever I go to Chik Fil-A, I try to squeeze out as my "My pleasures" as I can. Just pepper all of your verbal exchanges with a "thank you," and see which employee gets frustrated first.

Sheeeet - I never thought to order the fries well done. I'll have to give that a try next time.

yeah me too. It might be the only way to fix them...because they really aren't all that great compared to most others. They aren't horrible though, at least.

My chick-fil-a fries are always awesome. Something is wrong with your local chick-fil-as.

Maybe you just prefer soggy fries?
This has been my experience at CFA in multiple states, if you want crispy waffles fries, you have to order them well done.

I live in Chick-Fil-A mecca. I'm surrounded by CFA. Every direction I go there's CFA. There are 7 different Chick-Fil-A locations less than 5 miles from my house. The closest one is half mile away from my house. CFA is the gold standard for fast food. Whoever is in charge of training at that company is worth every $ they're paying him/her.

Waffle fries are only good if it's crispy. So you should ask for fries well done or crispy if it doesn't come standard like that. All the locations around me only serve crispy waffle fries.

I was craving CFA sandwich last night so I went there for after supper dessert. I had CFA sandwich and large strawberry milkshake. Great service and great food.

If you like spicy Korean fried chicken, CFA sriracha sauce is the closest commercial sauce I've found. It's the only sauce I use when I make chicken wings at home. I always ask for sriracha sauce at CFA so I can have a supply at home.

Our local Chik-Fil-A just tore down a store and built a larger one with 3 or 4 drive-through lanes. Must be nice to afford to tear down a well-kept, functioning property and replace it with something more grandiose. Then again, that side of town has seen major development in the last decade - so must be a primo location worth investing in - as opposed to building new locations.

It's kind of below my radar, though I enjoy the food. Polynesian Sauce FTW.

Hm, I'll have to ask for some next time.

My local branch switched from Tabasco to Texas Pete. Wut?

Still great chicken sandwiches, and you can save a lot of money by going on a Sunday.

I'll take the contrary view, and say CfA is kinda meh. The default fries suck(Didn't know you could request cooking them correctly), and the chicken is tasty, but kind of overpriced. They do have courteous, conscientious employees, and the physical shop is always in top shape, but I don't see the need to stop in often.

I'm with you chik fil a isn't all that, I don't even think the chicken is that good. I'd rather have wendys chicken sandwich and french fries but I'm not a fry person anyway so hardly ever order them.

Fair enough. I'll be honest, I'm not big on Chicken Sandwiches - though I would be willing to try their spicy one.

For me it's all about the nuggets and BBQ.

I mean, just based on your contrary view, you gotta at least tell us what you find to be above CfA.

Best thing about CFA is they use MSG to flavor their chicken and use peanut oil to cook it. So it keeps out all the peanut and nut allergy freaks. But most people don't know CFA uses MSG on their chicken so unfortunately it doesn't keep out MSG is poison and gives me headache fake crowd.

I went through a phase with ChikFiLA, in college, gave them a lot of business. Then it became disgusting to me and I haven't touched it since. And that was before I found out they support an anti-woman and anti-gay person agenda. Just another Hobby Lobby to me now.

Besides, once you go korean spicy fried or Howlin Ray's, it's hard to go back to the basic stuff.

I'm not a big chicken aficionado, so I'm not sure what's objectively better. I will say, for the money, I'm happier with a basic McChicken from McDonalds than I am from CfA sandwich. CfA is better, but costs ~100% more. Pro tip. Get a McChicken without mayo, and get a pack of hot picante sauce to put on it. Also works as a McNugget sauce.

This is important.

No duck fat available or practical? Peanut oil will serve you well in The Frying Arts.

Eh I'll stick with CfA. I'll give McDonald's props for having my favorite fast food breakfast. Love their $1 breakfast burritos with that hot picante.

I worked at McDonald's for years. Our cost for each dipping sauce was $0.11, so that's what we charged. They were super expensive and no, you don't need twelve for your six piece nugget.

$0.11 per dipping sauce? How is that much different than ketchup? It's not like the ingredients are anymore expensive. Either way, price it in with the chicken - it's insane. What stupid person eats nuggets/strips without a sauce?

Generally for like... a 12 piece nugget meal at Chik-Fil-A (which are pretty small nuggets) I need at least 3 - preferably 4.

Either way hoarding sauces like you're an ancient guardian is just ridiculous.

Also, went to Chik-Fil-A again today - because I had to inquire about this mystical "Well-Done" waffle-fries.

Indeed, they do have that as a special order option. They definitely were better that way. If you don't get them well done, I usually get 1 or 2 that are soggy/flimsy.
