Chief Architect on E-350?

My sister is looking for a laptop for school, and the only thing worth mentioning beyond a web browser and Office that she wants to run on it is Chief Architect, as she's in an Interior Design program.

The new Fusion laptops are at a great price point, but I'm wondering how well one would do running Chief Architect. Any opinions?

If we were able to step up to the $600 price range, what are some recommended laptops that could run Chief Architect? According to the system requirements for Chief Architect it would essentially be whatever would make a good gaming machine, I guess?

I don't think a E-350 would work too good with the software she needs to run. The software seems kinda demanding to run on a >$600 laptop.

How portable does she want it? Size and weight dictate the price of laptops.

Newegg has some that may run it although you'd have to do some research on the discrete video they come with.

It probably will meet the minimum requirements because no CPU is listed, which I usually interpret to mean P4 class. With that being said, running with minimum requirements usually does not give a pleasant user experience.

Just look for something (anything) that has a discrete graphics card. Usually the rest of the system specs are boosted to match.

i agree. you might meet requirements it looks like, with the e350 netbook, but the recommended specs are a $1000 desktop machine basically. i think youll have to spend at least $600 on a real laptop, probably more like $800.

Thanks guys. The Inspiron and XPS from Dell are on the radar, as well as the dv6 from HP. But as always, budget drives everything.

If price is of no concern the yet to be released AMD Llano would be a better choice compared to the E-350 for the software that your sister wants to use. My general opinion on that software would be more CPU intensive and the E-350 is not known for its dual core processing power. Unless of course the software is written to take advantage of the IGP.

Would be a lot better to get an Intel based laptop with a AMD/Nvidia discrete GPU for now.
