Chicken Tax, WTF!

I got my assessment form from the county, and there is a box on there for how much poultry you own. I can sorta understand cows, boats, cars because some of them can be high dollar, but chickens? Is there anything they don't tax?

hahahahahah of course they tax it. the goverment tax's everything. if there is not a tax on something now wait until the local/state/fed goverment finds out and it will be taxed.

deduction for choking chickens?

If you choke it on Dec 31st you won't have to pay tax on it the next year, but if you choke it on Jan 1 then you owe tax on it.

Bah, they said they didn't have the rates on poultry yet. I had a hard time not laughing. I'll call back next week.

I thought they actually taxed farmland LESS than residential...

they do.

but they also tax everything on the farm. from the equipment to the livestock. but for land it is far cheaper (long as yo make something like %50 of income from the land)
