We're leaving for Chicago tomorrow night. I've been there several times, but I'm also looking for things to do.

We're going to the Field to see the Tut exhibit. It should be very interesting.

Pizza: What's good? I've had Genos East and it was great. Other places?

I'm going to take my son to the ESPN Zone and we're all going to shop on Mich Ave of course.

What other places should we go? places to eat? We love sushi, so what's a great place near michigan ave?

Pizza: Lou Malnati's or Girordano's deep dish both pwn Ginos (IMO).

From another "what to do in Chicago thread":

Millenium Park (There are oftentimes concerts in the park)
Lincoln Park Zoo (I think they have some animals left )
The lakefront has miles and miles of paths
Museum of Science and Industry
Natural History Museum
John G Shedd Aquarium
Shopping on Michigan Ave (Water tower, 900 N Michigan, etc)
Gibson's for steaks
RL on Chicago and Michigan is supposed to be a lot of fun (haven't tried it yet)
Cheesecake factory (on the bottom of the Hancock) personally, I could skip it, food isn't bad but oftetimes a 1.5+ hour wait
Ghiardelli's and/or Hershey store for ice cream and chocolate by Water Tower
Spa/afternoon tea at the Penninsula (the Spa is wonderful!)
American Girl store to shop/luch if you have a little girl
Navy Pier
River boat tour
John Hancock or Sears Tower observation decks
Alder Planetarium (next to Field Museum and Shedd Aquarium)
Art Institute of Chicago
Walk around the Loop

Sorry to be a barer of bad news, but it just started raining over here (Chicago), hopefully it will clear up before your vacation, but keeping the weather. Check out Giordianno's (sp?) if you want to try something different from Gino's.

Pizza: Geno's is excellent - UNO, Edwardo's, and Giordanno's are great, too.

Anything on Michigan Ave will be $$$ but most likely very good.

Giordanno's sounds like a must.

What is RL on Chicago/Mich Ave?

Haven't tried Gibsons - may do that. We did go to Harry Carrey's place last time.

"Ghiardelli's and/or Hershey store for ice cream and chocolate by Water Tower " A MUST for my son. Thanks!

What about bars/nightlife around chicago?

Gibson's is very good though more expensive than HC, a little dressier, and requires reservations for dinner (also is THE steak scene place in Chicago). Keefer's across the street from HC's is also very good in the same vein as Gibson's.

There are more bars than you can shake a stick at here. It just depends on what you are looking for.

I'll check into RL.

Gibsons or Keefers - Sounds good.

Yeah the Bar's question was a bit open ended. Just somewhere to hang out with friends, maybe a nicer sports bar. My mom is going to keep the children and my wife and I are meeting a friend who lives up there. She'll probably know where to go, I just wondered what some good places to hang out and chill at.

What about Sushi? A great sushi bar / place to drink would be awesome.

I don't really eat sushi but most of the popular places are away from Michigan Ave. up in Old Town/Lincoln Park or over on Randolph St. just across the 90/94, IIRC.

I liked seeing the Museum of Science, when I was younger. I still enjoy the view from the Sears Tower observation level.

I wasn't much into the Navy Pier, but if that's your thing...

For Pizza, definitely Gino's or Giordanno's.

Lou Malnati's deep dish with extra cheese, pepperoni, and mushroom. (WAY WAY better than gino's, uno's, giordano's, nancy's, and/or edwardo's)
Gibson's for steaks.
Portillo's Italian beef (or beef-n-cheddar croissant).
Portillo's Chicago-style jumbo dog w/everything.

Go see the bean in millennium park on a sunny day. It's pretty cool.

Portillo's Big Beef. It's big. It's beefy.

And does anyone know the name of the restaurant very close to Union Station that has the enormous breakfasts? Been there a couple times but can't remember the name.

I went there in the fall this last year with my GF and we had a blast. The boat tour, shopping (for her), aqaurium, sears tower, second city are great things to do...

*EDIT*
Ohh ya, for food, if you have money, the chop house is the best steak you will ever have.
We found this little mexican place just down from second city that was some of the best mexican food i have ever had, wish i remembered the name...

Lou Malnatis is way better than Giordanos fyi, both are within 2 min of my house and I frequent them often.

If you want to go to some trendy clubs or that sort of thing or eat some good food check out Lincoln Park or River North but that's sans kids however.

Shed Aquarium is a good time for kids, Navy Pier is just overpriced tourist crap imo but to each their own.

We're also going to go to Ed Debevic's for lunch one day. It's just a fun place to go. I've been there a few times over the years.
